Sparkling, Life, and New Beginnings

I've been taking stock of my cellar as we prepare to move a little further south of Kansas City. Some new bottles have arrived too, like this 1996 Mumm Cuvée from Napa Valley. '96 was a legendary year for sparkling in Napa and Sonoma, so I've been picking up as many American expressions as possible (this one for under $75!). Amanda and I will open it soon, tasting notes to come.

We've had plenty to celebrate this year: our engagement, Amanda's mom turning 75, and my brother and sister each bringing me new nephews. Truly blessed.

And now, more exciting news: my future brother-in-law is giving us space to plant an acre or two of vines as the first step in a new Missouri sparkling project. This is where the vision starts to move from backyard experiments into something bigger. More to come soon.
